NETWORKING
Before plugging any Ethernet cable in LNF/BTF LAN:
* ask a BTF staff member for permission!
* Do not connect endpoints with static IP configuration (PCs, DAQ devices…) to any cable!
* Do not attach any user router or hub to any cable!
LNF/BTF LAN Description
Networking available in BTF areas:
- Control Room (CR)
- Experimental Areas (EH) (BTFEH1, BTFEH2)
- Service Areas (SA) (BTF Power Supply hall, BTF Vetrina, BTF Anteroom)
Networking elements:
- Access Point (AP) for Wireless LAN
- BTF router for cabled LNF, restricted, Trash and BTF VLANs
- Network Cables
- BTF DHCP Server (for user endpoints involved in data taking, must have DHCP AUTO Mode)
- LNF DHCP Server (for LNF-registered endpoint, i.e. for pushing data to external servers)
Prohibited elements in the LNF/BTF LAN:
- Users routers, hubs, IP Static Address and VLAN directly attached or projected into the LNF networking infrastructure
- Static IP configuration on endpoints (only DHCP AUTO mode for networking)
LNF Wireless LAN
The LNF wireless networks available to users in BTF areas are:
- DOT1X
- Eduroam
- INFNWEB
External users can request an INFNWEB account that will last for the entire shift duration.
LNF Cabled LAN
LNF Registered PC
Users who need to push data to external servers, can register their endpoints in LNF environment. All LNF-registered computers are allowed on the BTF VLAN network.

BTF Cabled VLAN
The BTF private VLAN is served by the BTF DHCP Server.
Users are allowed to connect endpoints in DHCP mode (NO STATIC IP) to BTF VLAN port:
- They will obtain an IP in the local BTF VLAN network 192.168.189.xxx , with xxx from 11 to 127
- The IP lease duration is 2 weeks before renew
- Hosts can request a maximum lease of one month before renew
Point-to-point connections CR to Experimental Hall
Uplinks from from BTFEH1, BTFEH2, CR for user-defined static IP connections could be available by means of a Trash VLAN between EH and CR router, two port are available. Please contact BTF staff for availability.
