This is an old revision of the document!
Table of Contents
Available hardware, software, and equipment at the department and INFN PD
Software
This list is intended to inform of different software and resources which is provided either by DFA or INFN PD, as well as to give instructions for how you find and get access to these:
- Zoom: A zoom account is provided for everyone with a UNIPD account. To access it, simply log in to https://unipd.zoom.us/ using your UNIPD credentials in the SSO dialog. In the zoom application, select institutional login and give the URL unipd.zoom.us.
- Computing: Basic could computing is provided by CouldVeneto, which is a collaboration between UNIPD and INFN. This provides a virtual machine with a number of cores available for computing jobs. See https://cloudveneto.it/ for more information. It is necessary to open an account there and be allocated computing resources before you can begin.
- Mathematica: Licenses are provided by the university. To get a licence and download the program, login at https://account.wolfram.com/login/oauth2/sso-sign-in by providing you university email and logging in with your UNIPD credentials.
- Overleaf: INFN hosts an Overleaf instance on their own servers. Note that this is not a licence to the regular, commercial Overleaf, but rather an independent server using the open-source software underlying Overleaf. As such, only INFN affiliates can create an account. This may seam like a problem when working with non-INFN collaborators, but this limitation can be circumvented by creating a public link with edit rights which does not require collaborators to log in in any way. To get access, login at https://overleaf.infn.it/oidc/login using your INFN credentials.
- Other UNIPD software: The university provides a number of other types of software, notability including Microsoft Office, which you can find on the following page: https://asit.unipd.it/servizi/contratti-software-licenze
- Other INFN software: There is a page with software provided by INFN, but at the moment I cannot remember how to find it…
Hardware
- There is an unofficial list of hardware (laptops, monitors, etc) available around the department. Ask Philip Soerensen or Davide Cassani for a link.
- UNIPD has an exchange for reuse of office equipment. Currently, it has mostly chairs, but it might be worth to have a look if you need something: https://apps.unipd.it/riuso
